Who We Are

The ACS Student Chapter at North Carolina Central University is a student-run organization affiliated with the American Chemical Society. We help students do well in their chemistry courses and plan for what comes after.

Our members study chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and other subjects. You don't need to be a chemistry major to join.

What We Do

Academic Support We run study groups and tutoring for the core chemistry courses.

Research Exposure We help members find research spots in labs on campus and present their work at regional conferences. Research experience counts for a lot when you apply to graduate school.

Professional Development We hold resume workshops and graduate school panels, introduce members to people working in industry, and travel to ACS regional and national meetings.

Community Outreach We visit K-12 classrooms around Durham to run chemistry demos, help with science fairs, and mentor younger students.

Our Values

  • Excellence: We work hard and help each other do our best work.
  • Inclusion: Chemistry is for everyone. Any student can join, whatever their major or experience.
  • Service: We give back to NCCU and to Durham.
  • Collaboration: We get more done together, and we learn from people with different backgrounds.

History

A group of NCCU chemistry students started the chapter because they wanted a stronger science community on campus. It has kept growing since then.
